Chief 610

Chief Greg Telep, Hose Company 1

Message from Chief Telep: "Welcome to the Lodi Fire Department website. I am proud to serve the Borough of Lodi as Chief of Department of the Lodi Fire Department. The Lodi Fire Department responds to a litany of emergencies as well as visible fire. Our members answer the call to duty on the average of 600-900 times every year. Most of them are what we call in the fire service as ‘smells and bells’, however, every single time that alarm sounds and their pagers activate, the brave men and women of this Department put their lives on the line every single time. When you have any doubt, dial 911 and let the proper authorities assist you.

The Members of this Department are highly trained and motivated individuals who not only answer the call of duty when their pager sounds, but also train on a regular basis. Our members get their basic firefighter recruit training at the Bergen County Fire Academy in Mahwah and they continue to train in specialized training in areas of Hazardous Materials, Vehicle Extrication, Heavy Rescue, Weapons of Mass Destruction and much more after they graduate. Approximately 40% of our members are trained as First Responders and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) as well and approximately 95% of the members are trained in CPR Professional Rescuer.

Feel free to explore our website. You will see the true meaning of 'brotherhood' not only amongst ourselves but also with our mutual aid departments, our police department and ambulance corp. The Lodi Fire Department is made up of 100% unpaid professionals who volunteer their time and lives to protect life and property for you. Stay safe and remember that fire safety must begin with you. Don’t forget SMOKE DETECTORS SAVE LIVES! You should change the batteries at least twice per year. When you change your clock for daylight savings time, change the batteries in your smoke detectors and also your carbon monoxide detectors.”
