maltese cross Bedroom Fire - 124 Burns Ave - 10/13/2007

At 22:22 hrs the Lodi Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire in a bedroom at 124 Burns Ave. Upon arrival Asst Chief Baldino (F-1) reported he had a 2 ½ story frame with nothing showing from the exterior and established command.

While the companies were en route Chief Baldino reported that he was advised of a fire in a bedroom on the second floor rear of the home by the homeowner. Members from Engine 612 and Engine 615 entered the dwelling to find a moderate smoke condition throughout the 2nd floor. One line was stretched.

Capt Woods reported a small fire going up the wall in a bedroom on the C side of the structure. That fire was extinguished with a water can and the members opened up to check for extension which proved to be negative. Members from Engine 612 lead by Capt Guyre conducted primary and secondary searches of the dwelling which proved negative.

Members from Rescue 611 set up a positive pressure vent. Chief Baldino used two Engines and the Rescue for the job, leaving Engine 614 and Truck 1 available for fire duty for the Borough. All companies were up and available by 23:00 hrs.

Chief Baldino said “It was a job well done by the members. They got in saw what they had, put the fire out with very little water damage. The members are experienced, knowledgeable, aggressive and safe. You cannot ask for anything better as a Chief Officer.”

The fire was investigated by the Lodi Fire Prevention Bureau lead by Fire Official Wanco.
