House Fire on Avenue B. - June 24, 2009
At 2:15 PM on Wednesday, June 24, the Lodi Fire Department was dispatched to 73 Avenue B. for reports of "smoke coming from the rear" of a house. Lodi Chief Greg Telep and Saddle Brook Chief Charles Cerone were the first on scene and reported back to Lodi dispatch that it was a confirmed working housefire.
Due to a fire the previous night on Garibaldi Avenue, Lodi's covering towns including Little Ferry, East Newark and Fairlawn were the first on scene and went to work immediately. Lodi's apparatus arrived a moment later and assisted.
The second-floor fire was brought under control approximately 25 minutes later due to the speed of the combined towns' efforts.
Nobody was hurt and the fire is still under investigation.
