39 Chestnut House Fire - April 11, 2008
At 3:20 AM on April 11, 2008, the Lodi Fire Department was dispatched to respond to 39 Chestnut Street for reports of a fire in the air conditioner. Eleven minutes later, a second dispatch was broadcasted confirming the call as a "working house fire."
Arriving units found a smokey condition from the outside, as well as some flame visible. A search team made its way to the basement, followed by an initial hose line and backup line. An air conditioner was found inside the ground-level basement on fire, with extension to the frame, wall and ceiling. The fire was quickly knocked down and the house was checked for extension on the first and second floor.
A F.A.S.T. team from Wallington quickly showed up, as well as a cascade unit from Saddle Brook. No major injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
