On Sunday, May 6, the Lodi Fire Department was dispatched to 34 John Street at 9:30 AM with a report of a fire. Details were given that the homeowner had smoke in the home but couldn’t locate the fire.

Second Assistant Chief Greg Telep established command, third Assistant Chief Anthony Maiolo ran the first floor operations and Chief 610 Bob Cassiello ran the basement operations.

The fire started in the basement ceiling where members of Hose Company 1 successfully knocked it down. The fire extended to the first floor where members of Truck / Rescue Company and Hose Company 2 opened floors up to stop it from traveling up the walls.

"A great job was done by all in keeping fire to basement and first floor." - Chief Telep

Mutual Aid was called in from the Wallington Fire Department for a fast team. Standby Mutual Aid coverage was Engine 2 from the Saddle Brook Fire Department an a ladder truck from Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department.
