At approximately 00:28, the Lodi Fire Department was dispatched to 20 Rennie Place with reports from an officer on scene of smoke coming from the second floor. The first-due interior crew encountered a mattress that was on fire. Tools were used to cut open the mattress to gain access for 2 water cans to cool and quench the smoldering flame.

Second due interior crew assisted in the removal of the smoking mattress via the nearest window. The box spring was also removed through the front door.
