At 10:23am, the Lodi Fire Department was dispatched to 125 Terrace Ave on the report of a "fire in the basement." All units responded and mutual aid was called out to Saddle Brook, Wallington and Little Ferry.
Upon arrival, 3 hoselines were stretched to the basement and the first floor. After the first floor search turned out negative for any fire, reports were received that there were dogs inside the house. The hose team and search crew made their way to the second floor where they found a dog lying still near a door, lightly breathing. They were able to remove the dog from the house and EMS rehabilitated the dog with oxygen within minutes.
Heavy smoke filled all rooms of the house and the main body of fire was found in a basement bedroom and was subsequently knocked down.
Two Lodi Firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
