Applicant Requirements
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 45
- Residence must live within 1 mile of the borders of the Borough of Lodi.
* (Borough residents will have priority over out-of-town applicants)
Application Procedure
- Application is to be obtained during regular business hours at
The office of the Borough Fire Marshal
2nd FL. Borough Hall, 1 Memorial Drive, - Application must be completed in its entirety.
- Applicant must get a physical exam by his/her own physician
- Applicant must bring the application to the Company Captain of the Company they wish to join. Meeting nights are the best time for that.
- 1st Monday of the month – Hose Company 1, Fire Headquarters
- 1st Tuesday of the month – Truck / Rescue Company, Fire Headquarters
- 2nd Monday of the month – Hose Company 2, Kennedy St. Firehouse
- 2nd Tuesday of the month – Fire Company, Westervelt St. Firehouse.
(Any candidates should be at the respective fire house at 7:00 pm)
After Acceptance of Application
- Application will then be sent to the Borough of Lodi.
- Candidate will be notified of when & where to report for a drug test.
- Candidate will be notified to make an appointment with Lodi Police Department for fingerprinting and background check
- Once approved by the Municipal Manager, the application will be sent to the state office of the NJ State Firemen’s Association for approval.
- Once approved by the state of New Jersey, a line number will be issued by the state association.
- The candidate will then have to report to the department training officer who will register that candidate for their formal Firefighter 1 Recruit Training at the Bergen County Police and Fire Academy in Mahwah.
* Firefighter 1 Recruit Training is 150 hours of both classroom and hands on training that the candidate must successfully complete within one year of acceptance into department.
