Stove Fire-15 First Street

On the evening of April 17th, 2012, the Lodi Fire Department was dispatched to 15 First Street for a reported stove fire. Upon arrival, a crew from Engine 612 made entry. Crews quickly located the source of the fire and made a quick knock down. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Shed Fire-44 Contant Avenue

In the early morning of March 12th, 2012 at 12:09AM, the Lodi Fire Department was dispatched to 44 Contant Avenue for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival Chief Darren Yuhas assumed command and reported a working shed fire. First due crews were greeted with fire coming out of the door. Crews made a quick knock down of the fire and continued with overhaul. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and is still under investigation.

On Saturday, February 4th, 2012, the Lodi Fire Department held the annual Chief’s dinner honoring Chief Darren Yuhas and his 3 assistant chiefs. The dinner was celebrated at the Valley Regency in Montclair, NJ. everyone in attendance had an amazing time. A special thanks to our mutual-aid coverage to allow us the good time with the assurance that Lodi was protected.

Lodi Fire Department Swearing In Ceremony

On Tuesday, January 17th, 2012, at 7PM the monthly meeting of the Lodi Mayor and Council was called to order in which the Lodi Fire Department swearing in ceremony was conducted. Ex-Chief Robert Cassiello acted as Master of Ceremonies for the event. The officers for the year 2012 are as follows;

Department Meeting/Beefsteak Dinner

On Tuesday, December 27th at 8PM the Lodi Fire Department held its final department meeting of 2011. This was to be the final meeting with Chief Anthony Maiolo as 610. During the meeting, Chief Maiolo presented incoming 3rd Assistant Chief Adam Bene with his Chief’s Helmet. Chief Maiolo then presented 1st Assistant Chief Darren Yuhas with his 610 pins and badges and then turned the meeting over to him. Chief Yuhas presented Ex-Chief Maiolo with his Ex-Chief’s badges. The meeting was adjourned and the beefsteak dinner began provided by Geresi’s Catering. The Lodi Fire Department would like to thank Chief Anthony Maiolo for his years of dedication to the town and especially his last four years as Chief and wish him well in the future.

Apartment Fire – Clark Street

The Lodi Fire Department was dispatched to Clark Street for reports of a fire in an apartment complex. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Chief, I just learned that one of your crews assisted in bailing water out of my grandmother’s basement at 110 Church Street. Resident name is Celeste Stanley.

I can’t thank you and your department enough for all that you do for the city.

Basement fire on Farnham Avenue

Around midnight on Sunday, August 14th, the Lodi Fire Department was dispatched to Farnham Ave for reports of a “fire in the basement.” Arriving crews were met with heavy black smoke on the first floors of the house emanating from a contents-fire in the rear of the residential home. Primary and secondary searches were performed and a house cat was subsequently removed from the dwelling.

Attack crews finally located the main body of the flame behind a wall deep into the far reaches of the basement. Excessive amounts of furniture and other personal belongings hindered the initial attack as well as attempts to get a quick knockdown. The fire was brought under control around 1:30 AM, and extensive overhaul was performed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
